Cooking and Counting With Elijah

This morning Elijah helped me make some pancakes, and he practiced counting, too!

All three of our kiddos made the same mistake when they were learning how to count. They all said ... 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 8.... I think they all do this because eleven sounds like seven, so eight comes after seven (and eleven, apparently)!

"Henry drive dump truck"

Elijah is a big fan of any and all trucks. We've depleted our public library's supply of truck books. Elijah especially likes the books I Drive a Dump Truck and I Drive a Garbage Truck. The first line of the dump truck book is: My name is Henry and I drive a dumptruck. For weeks now, Elijah has been telling us, "Henry drive dump truck. Jackie drive trash truck!" I love how he says it, so I wanted to capture it on video before he outgrows his baby voice.

Looking for Ornament (the Elf)

Today is the last day that Ornament will be at our house until next year. Tonight he will return to the North Pole with Santa, and hopefully, he'll return next year!! It's funny how Ornament always found the high spots in our house, so that a little munchkin (or three) couldn't reach him!

Up on the Housetop

We were supposed to go to a holiday sing-along at Sienna's school this afternoon. Unfortunately, we got a message at 2:00 PM yesterday saying that school was canceled today! The roads were clear by last night, so I'm not sure why school was canceled. Oh well!! Since we missed the sing-along, Sienna gave me a private viewing of one of the songs. I learned this song with a different set of hand motions when I was in Kindergarten!

Thankfully, my parents were able to fly in safely today despite the weekend snowstorm! We're looking forward to having them (and Katy and Nathan) here for Christmas!

Snow fun!

We had a huge snowstorm last night. It looks like we got about 12-14" of snow!!! Good thing our snowblower is in good working order this year! (It was out of commission for much of last winter).

As good New Englanders (and a former Midwesterner), we had to get bundled up and go play in the snow!! The girls could barely walk through our yard! Elijah wasn't so sure this was a good idea!

Ready for a ride!

Who is that little guy? Is that Elijah...

...or Randy from A Christmas Story?

Elijah actually seemed happier with my gigantic scarf wrapped around his face!Isabella and Elijah had fun sledding on the driveway! Sienna had already gone in by this point.

A wild ride!

Look Who's Crawling!!!

We have a crawler!!! Granted, it's a commando crawl, but Elijah still gets himself around effectively. It's just a matter of time before he's zooming all around. He'll get up and rock on his hands and knees, but he still slithers on his belly to get around. He sure is determined when he wants something!

Elijah pulled up to a standing position for the first time today, too!!! Here he is standing at the coffee table. What a big boy!

10 Months Old!

Elijah is 10 months old today!!! He's getting closer to crawling; although, he still uses rolling as his preferred means of getting around. He pivots all around and scooches a bit on his belly, but he doesn't get up on his hands and knees independently yet. We're working on that, but I know I'll be sorry once he really starts crawling! Now he will still sit in one spot and play for a while. Those days will be over soon!

Elijah is teething like crazy!! In addition to the four teeth that came in within a couple weeks of each other back in November, he now has three more teeth coming in! Those little teeth sure are sharp! He has taken to biting when he gets excited about something. Ouch!! He's using those teeth to try all sorts of new foods: grilled cheese, pasta, turkey, graham crackers and cheese. We haven't found anything that he won't eat yet.

Elijah's new fascination is rocking (just like Bobu!). He started rocking back and forth in his exersaucer, and he scoots it across the floor. Yesterday I put him in the glider rocking chair to take a picture of him in one of his new outfits (thanks, Katy and Nathan!) and he immediately started rocking himself. After a couple minutes of experimenting, now he totally has the rhythm down to keep himself rocking smoothly. He loves it! Check it out:

Elijah still adores his big sisters. Today he was snuggling with Isabella on the floor. He watches Isabella and Sienna intently when they play "fumble" with Dada or when they goof around with Papa. He'll be joining in before we know it!
