Pork Chop

Elijah had his two month visit to the doctor yesterday. He got three shots and one oral vaccine. Here are his stats:

Weight: 10 lbs, 15 oz (29th percentile-up from the 18th percentile last month!)
Length: Somewhere between 21 3/4" and 22 3/4" The nurse measured him several times and got a different length each time. The third time he was 22 1/8", so we'll go with that.
Head circumference: 39 cm (25th percentile)

Elijah gained another 2 1/2 lbs this month. He has inherited his dad's amazing ability to sleep, so I'm glad to hear that he is eating enough during his waking hours. He also just started to coo this week!

At two months, Sienna weighed 9 lbs, 2 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long. Isabella was only 7 lbs, 2 oz and 19 inches long at two months since that's when she was actually due to arrive!! So, Elijah is our little pork chop compared to his sisters at this age.

Vacation Week

Last week the public schools (including Isabella's preschool) had April Vacation. Since the weather was beautiful and in the 70's all week, we spent every day outside.

Pizza at the playground
(The boy in the sunglasses is Isabella's friend and future husband, Connor.
He tells everyone he knows that he's going to marry Isabella.)

Trip to the Zoo
Checking out the tortoises

If you look carefully above Isabella's head, you'll see a bald eagle on a branch.
Even though the zoo was packed because of vacation week, we managed to leave the zoo with all of the children who came with us!

We finished up the week with our MOMS Club's annual "Hop Into Spring" party. We rented a moon bounce and had pizza at the park. Even though Easter was a month ago, we did an egg hunt, too.

You know you've had a good time when you're covered head to toe with dirt!

8 Weeks Old

Elijah is 8 weeks old today! He started smiling (mainly at Isabella) about two weeks ago. I finally witnessed a smile the other day. He seems to save them all for Isabella and Mike and even our friend, Glen, who came over the other day. I'll try to capture a smile on camera one of these days. Elijah has his two month well visit at the pediatrician next week, so I'll give you his stats after that appointment.

I just washed his hair, so he has a fluffy Donald Trump-like comb over.

Museum of Science

Yesterday Isabella asked if we could go to the museum that has magnetic beads. I figured out that she was thinking of the Museum of Science where we went with Grandma back in the fall. Since both of the girls are fighting a virus (coughs and low fevers)*, I figured that we could venture to the museum and keep our germs away from our local friends. Although the Museum of Science is mainly geared towards older kids, there's a great Discovery Center where we spent most of our visit.

*Just for the record, no one had a fever yesterday during the day. Isabella had a fever over the weekend, and I figured that it was only a matter of time before Sienna would run a fever-which she did last night and today.

"Aunt Katy's Family"

Sienna recently started doing more representational drawings. This morning she drew a picture of "Aunt Katy's Family." For some reason Uncle Nathan isn't in the picture, but Sienna drew "Katy's mom and dad" who would be Nana and Bobu. She also included Katy's dogs, "Cold and Ruby". I didn't catch it at first, but I heard Isabella say, "Do you mean Chili and Ruby?" I love those silly mix-ups.

Ever since Aunt Tracy's visit a couple weeks ago, Sienna keeps referring to "Uncle Neff". I think she combined the names of her two uncles, Nathan and Jeff, so she's confused about who's who. That may be why she didn't even include Uncle Nathan in this drawing.

6 Weeks Old

Elijah is 6 weeks old today!! Even though he still sleeps a lot, he's definitely more alert for longer periods and he's really starting to focus on things. We're still waiting for that first real social smile!

More Pictures From Nana (and Bobu/Baldbu's) Visit

As it turns out, my mom timed her visit perfectly. She ended up being here for about a week and a half before Elijah was born. I was really uncomfortable by the end of my pregnancy, so it was nice to have help with the girls and with physical stuff around the house. We also figured that the baby would be early, and we were right. My mom stayed for three weeks after Elijah was born which was also perfect since I had to recover from a c-section this time. I was able to take it easy and recuperate fully while she continued to cook, clean and cart the girls around town. We're not sure what we would have down without her invaluable help. Thanks, Mom! I hope that I can do the same for our kids some day! My dad came out during the last five days of my mom's visit so that he could meet the newest addition to our family. Here are a few more pictures from their visit. I don't know why it took me so long to post these!

My mom helped the girls build these five mini snowmen several days before Elijah arrived.
Second bath at home

Thank Heaven for Little Girls (and their hand-me-downs) We only use the pink towels and blankets at home!

It sure was cold and wet that day!

My dad helps Mike work on the basement each time that he visits, so Elijah had his first trip to Home Depot with Dada to get some supplies!

Happy Birthday to Me! Any idea how old I am?!

"I'm not so sure about this guy!"

Full lap!

I have discovered that it's nearly impossible to get a nice picture of three kids.

Isabella would hold Elijah all day if I let her. Both of the girls are very loving big sisters!

Kindergarten Registration

Isabella had kindergarten registration today. Boo hoo!!!! It's hard to believe that she'll be getting on the school bus in another 5 months. We had to drop off a lot of paperwork, and she met the principal and one of the kindergarten teachers. We were also able to peek around one of the classrooms.

We're still not sure where Sienna will go for preschool. We signed her up for the school where Isabella goes now but they pick the kids in a lottery drawing. Sienna was the second of three kids on the wait list! What are the chances of that?!?! Everyone else we know got in... The principal is pretty sure that Sienna will get in eventually because several children in the regular lottery are being evaluated for special needs which would move them into a different pool if they qualify. There will probably be a few families who choose to go to other programs, too, but we don't know that yet. Hopefully, we'll find out within the next few weeks. We have a great second choice for Sienna, too, so either way both of the girls will be in school in the fall.
